Flavour
It opens with an elegant orchid aroma, transitions into a fresh bamboo leaf character, and concludes with a subtle, creamy sweetness. The liquor is pale green, while the brewed leaves are edged in red—together resembling the elegant flowing ribbons in the murals of Dunhuang.
In the mouth, it offers a light and silky texture. The slight fermentation lends depth and a lasting aroma, while preserving a green tea-like freshness. This tea embodies the Chinese tea maker’s profound grasp of yuan tong—a Buddhist ideal of perfect penetration and harmonious adaptation—reflecting both the name Guanyin (the Bodhisattva of Compassion) and a spiritual responsiveness to nature. From flavor to fragrance, Tie Guan Yin expresses a balance that is both subtle and profound, making it a classic Gongfu tea worthy of mindful contemplation.
